Kiwapower, a solar power supplier headquartered in Mexico (Shareholders: Marubeni Corporation, Becquerel Capital), is pleased to announce that the donation ceremony of a solar power system to the Instituto Educativo Japonés de Guanajuato (hereinafter called “Japanese School”) was held on April 17, 2023.
Mexico boasts approximately 1.5 times more solar radiation than Japan, making it one of the most ideal location for solar power generation in the world. Kiwapower specializes in providing renewable energy to commercial and industrial users throughout Mexico by installing, owning and operating solar PV systems located on the customer’s rooftop or parking area, without requiring any customer investment.
The solar system donation to the Japanese School aims to deliver environmental, educational, and economic value. It will combat global warming by reducing CO2 emissions, promote awareness of renewable energy among students, and save on electricity costs. With this donation, the Japanese School will source approximately 90% of its electricity from solar power, taking its first step toward becoming an "eco-school”.
The donation ceremony was held on April 17 and attended by Kiwapower's representative in Mexico, Mr. Keisuke Moriyama, as well as Mr. Katsumi Itagaki from the Consulate-General of Japan, León, Mexico, and others. Also, solar powered toy-cars were given to the students and a solar power quiz was conducted. Atsushi Imai, Principal of the Japanese School, expressed his gratitude, saying, "In Japan, installation of solar systems is getting common, but in Mexico it is still not. This is a very good gift for the students who live and study in Mexico.”
Moving forward, Kiwapower will continue to collaborate with the Japanese School to dedicate to promote the adoption of solar power systemin Mexico, including activities to raise awareness about renewable energy through education.
